The researchers chose a topic and read about their topic during private read. With little stapled notebooks in hand, they stopped in the midst of reading to record facts using pictures and words. They shared their notes and information with a reading partner.
We shared facts as a whole group, too. The children wrote a wow fact about their topic and put it on our chart paper during reader's workshop, learning more while developing their language by using exact words.
Using their notes, the artists created topic posters, sharing their knowledge through colorful drawings and playful stamps. Their posters are beautiful and informative documentation of their growth as readers and writers!
