I can count and show how many

On Wednesday we celebrated our 10th day of Kindergarten!

We read the book Ten Black Dots and thought about what we could create using 10 black dots. 10 black dots can make...

Following our read aloud, each writer thought of a plan and used shapes and lines to draw their idea. Then they pointed to and counted 10 black dots to use in their drawings. It was important to check our counting before and after we finished our math drawings.

We also practiced pointing to and counting dots on a 10 frame during a new Morning Meeting Greeting; find your match! Some children were given a number and some children were given a ten frame with a number of dots. In a "find your match" greeting you walk around the meeting area and find the match to your card. For example, if I have a card with the number 3, I am looking for a card showing 3 dots on a ten frame.
