responsible

We haven't written our classroom rules yet, but we have school rules.
At school we are safe, kind, and responsible.
This week we read about, discussed, and practiced being responsible

What does it mean to be responsible?

"Being a friend"
"Sitting criss cross"
"Moving carefully in our classroom"

How are we responsible in Kindergarten?

I can be responsible during morning meeting.
I connect my eyes and my heart when I say hi to a friend.
I practice asking, what is your name?
I practice saying a new friend's name.

I can be responsible for my space.
I wipe my table spot after each meal.
I put trash in the garbage, plastic in the recycling, and food in our compost.

I can be responsible with books.
I start with the front cover.
I turn each page carefully.
I touch and talk about the pictures, thinking about the story.

I can be responsible with my tools.
I have a basket with my name on it.
My basket of books and tools is my responsibility.

I can be responsible for myself.
I make a plan for how I will help our classroom.

I can be responsible in the bathroom.
I am responsible for wiping my body, flushing the toilet, and washing my hands.
If I need help, Mrs. A (our nurse) can help me.
Mrs. A has taught us about how to be responsible in the bathroom.

I can be responsible as a writer.
I can make a plan and then use pictures to show how we are responsible!
