This week the Kindergarten readers practiced the important skill of rereading.
Rereading means to read again. The more you reread the more you learn and grow!
We practiced starting at the front cover and touching and reading every page.
Kiera shared with the whole group how readers reread, touching every page!
Readers reread by touching and reading every page!
WOW!
As children reread on their own and with a partner they noticed more. They noticed wow pages; a page that makes a reader stop and say, wow, I didn't know that! All of the Kindergarteners eagerly practiced writing the word wow on a sticky note, putting their note in their book, ready to share with a partner.
I think...
We learned that as readers think and learn more about a topic, they add a pinch of their own thinking. Using the words, I think, we shared our thinking with a partner.
Nikki later found the word wow in one of his storybooks!
